Our History

doctHERs was conceived by Dr. Asher Hasan in 2013 and prototyped as part of a community health project conducted by NAYA JEEVAN in 2014. The founding team of Dr. Asher Hasan and Dr. Sara Khurram tested video-consultation in Sultanabad, an urban slum community of Karachi over a period of 6 months, treating 100 patients. doctHERs was spun off in March 2015 and began operations as an independent entity. The company is registered under section 32 of the SECP Companies Ordinance, 1984 (Corporate Identification No. 0092212). Dr. Iffat Zafar formally joined doctHERs in August 2015 as the third CoFounder and alongside Dr. Sara Khurram, played a pivotal role in expanding the organization’s operations in Pakistan.

doctHERs is a digital, healthcare platform that connects female doctors (‘doctHERs’) to underserved patients in real-time while leveraging leading-edge technology. Through a unique business model, doctHERs provides affordable, quality healthcare to a subset of the “missing middle” population in Pakistan. Out of this missing middle, 80% of doctHERs’ clients include women and children of the designated/target communities, who otherwise would not be able to access quality, affordable healthcare.

doctHERs uses a telemedicine platform equipped with a set of Core Diagnostic Instruments (CDIs) from Tech-4-life, a Karachi based eHealth Company that excels in the provision of remote, digital health software and hardware.

Today, doctHERs has 9 telemedicine clinics across Pakistan; 6 are based in the urban slums of Sindh, two in Khyber Paktunkhuwa and 1 in Punjab. In Karachi, the clinics are situated in Model Colony, Korangi, New Lyari, Orangi Town, Zia Colony and Bin Qasim. In KPK, the clinics are located in Dadar and Mansehra. In Punjab, the clinic is located in Hafizabad, Whilst  7 centres are medical units, 2 are tele-psychiatry units.
