Prototype Phase (January 2014 – June 2014)

Following initial concept development, a prototype was launched in 2014 in an urban-slum of two hundred and fifty thousand slum dwellers in Karachi, with the support of USAID. The community-based prototype successfully treated over 100 female patients via nurse-assisted video-consultation. About 10 female beneficiaries were referred to tertiary care centers for safe deliveries under the supervision of skilled birthing attendants.

Pilot and Scale-up Phase

doctHERs is currently operating 8 clinics. The telemedicine software currently deployed in these doctHERs clinics is MD Consults and has been in-licensed for use from Tech-4-Life.

Model Colony, Karachi

doctHERs launched its first clinic on 11th May 2015 in Model Colony, Karachi; a low-to- middle-income urban slum located next to the Karachi International Airport. 1200 patients have been seen in the clinic so far (please provide correct numbers) MNCH, antenatal ultrasound, diabetes, eye care and skin care camps have been conducted. The clinic consists of a mini-pharmacy, a family planning lab, blood lab collection and tertiary care referral services.

Hijrat Colony in Karachi

Hijrat Colony in Karachi is an urban slum of two hundred fifty thousand conservative, tribal Pashtuns located close to the US Consulate in Karachi. The second clinic was launched in June 2015. Over 800 patients were treated in less than 6 months.

Mansehra, KPK

The third clinic was inaugurated on 13th October 2015 in Mansehra, KPK to cater to the needs of the biggest division in the Hazara district. About 250 patients were treated on the day of the inauguration. The clinic facilitates patients via primary care services, tertiary care services and ultrasound facilities.

Dadar, KPK

doctHERs launched its first ever tele-psychiatry clinic on 1st April, 2016 at Dadar, KPK. Realizing the deplorable conditions of the Government Mental and General clinic, doctHERs stepped in, in order to make lives of those living with mental illnesses better. Two specialist psychiatrists work virtually in this clinic and to date, 171 patients have been provided consultations alongside free medication.

New Lyari, Karachi

We launched our clinic in New Lyari, Karachi on 11th May, 2016. A grand launch through a medical camp organized in collaboration with GSK was conducted, targeting around 600 individuals. New Lyari is a small town, which shares its border with SITE town, Lyari River, Kemari and Saddar, with a population of 70,000 residents. Forty percent of the population belongs to lower-middle class. Since the launch of the clinic, one other medical camp has also taken place, and patient load continues to increase day by day.

Korangi Y Block, Karachi

A clinic in Korangi Y Block, Karachi was inaugurated on 18th May, 2016, which is an urban-slum located north of Malir River in the Eastern part of Karachi, with a population of 800,000 individuals. The launch occurred through a Calcium Awareness Medical camp, which was conducted in collaboration with GSK, targeting approximately 500 patients. The clinic has had an excellent turnout and another medical camp has also taken place.

Korangi Town, Zia Colony

In an area where health conditions are deplorable, doctHERs launched a clinic in Korangi Town, Zia Colony. The clinic was inaugurated through a medical camp on 6th June, 2016. The area has a population of 12,000 to 15,000 with low literacy and high poverty levels. The first camp targeted approximately 600 individuals. Since then, the clinic is gaining popularity in the area.

Bin Qasim, Landhi in Karachi

doctHERs launched a clinic on 29th July , 2016 in Bin Qasim, Landhi in Karachi. The area has a population of 15,000 to 20,000 and mostly comprises of lower middle class. Our medical camp had a patient turnout of more than hundred individuals. The launch occurred in collaboration with GSK and centered on Calcium and Vitamin D awareness.

Baldia, Orangi Town, Karach

A clinic was launched on 16th August, 2016 in Baldia, Orangi Town, Karachi. This area is located towards the north and bordered by New Karachi, has a population of more than 10,000 individuals, with low educational levels. Majority of the population is quite poor, with inadequate access to healthcare. The launch occurred through a medical camp centered on calcium awareness in collaboration with GSK. Fifty-six patients were provided consultation. The clinic is slowly witnessing an increase in patient turnout.

Hafizabad, Punjab

In the first week of September, doctHERs launched its 2nd Tele-Psychiatry Unit in Hafizabad, Punjab in collaboration with Medibank and the Punjab Government. The aim of the clinic is to treat patients living with mental disorders and to reduce the stigma associated with mental illnesses
